Today, scanning microfiche is still of as those clunky boxes in all the libraries across the country. They were hard to use and never worked right on a consistent basis. The old machines you had to use the machines mechanical controls to pin down a bit of text located somewhere on the sprawling map of the microfilm.
Today, it is much easier to accomplish. All you need is a few steps to get the job done, first you need to locate the microfiche cards. You need to locate the film according to the index to see if it fits your desired topic. Do research by indexes of dates and topics to make your search easier.
Use the machines glass case and level controls to insert the film into the scanner.
Turn the projector screen on and the microfiche will display on the screen. Use the mechanical controls to move the holder around while scanning the screen for what you are looking for. Most microfiche cards have some index information printed on the lower right. You may have to locate your desired page by a little trial and error.
